Study confirms that charter schools fall short of expectations

According to a new book-length study by the Economic Policy Institute, students in charter schools, on average, fare no better, and often do worse, on the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) than do students in traditional public schools. Researchers also found charter schools enroll proportionally fewer low-income students.

ACCAFT's history

Several concerned ACC employees met one afternoon in September, 1998, to organize a local chapter of the American Federation of Teachers, AFL/CIO. Representatives of the Texas Federation of Teachers and the Austin Federation of Teachers explained the purpose, structure, and strategy of a union of employees in higher education.
