Labor Calls for Action on Student Debt

AFT- Maryland President Attends Civil, Human, and Women’s Rights Conference

AFT-Maryland President Marietta English will attend the Civil, Human, and Women’s Rights Conference in Los Angles, California, this week. Sponsored by the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), the conference is being held October 3rd through October 6th.  The conference focuses on encouraging the Department of Labor and the Congress to create better policies for helping American families, extending the benefits of family and medical leave assistance, and promoting stronger and more effective family and medical leave benefits for women and working families.

BCFPE to Hold Contract Ratification Vote

The Baltimore Federation of Public Employees (BCFPE) will hold a contract ratification vote on Monday, October 21, from 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the union’s offices, 25 W. Chesapeake Avenue, Suite 208, in Towson, Maryland. The ballots will be counted after voting has closed at 6:00 p.m., and the results will be announced immediately after completion of the count. Voting is for union members only. All voters must have valid identification to participate in the voting process. Union members are welcome to witness the counting of ballots.
