2016 EMUFT Election Information

EMUFT's Annual Membership Convention will be held on Friday, March 11. Polls will be open from 9am - 6pm in 202 Pray-Harrold. The agenda for this poll includes the election vote for the Union Council Officers, and ratification votes for the 2016-2017 EMUFT Budget and an Amendment to our constitution.

City Council Forum, Districts 2, 3, 12, and 13

As the race for elected office in Baltimore City continues, AFT-Maryland hosted a candidate forum for those running for City Council in Districts 2, 3, 12, and 13. Among those in attendance were Brandon Scott, Tony Chrisitan, Marques Dent, Jermaine Jones, Ryan Dorsey, George Van Hook, Jason Pyeron, Gary Crum, Shannon Sneed, and George Johnson.

NTU Update - February 5, 2016

Colleagues,

1)    Hall of Fame Dinner: The 18th Annual Albert Shanker Scholarship Awards are upon us.  If you are a full member of the NTU, your son/daughter is eligible to apply.  If you are a full member of the NTU and you are a Paraprofessional in our public school district who is currently attending college then you are eligible to apply.

SABEA Votes on Contract Proposal

During the week of February 1-4, SABEA members came to informational meetings to hear about the four aspects of the contract, both SRP and Faculty, that would change if ratified.

The results of the vote were a strong support for the proposal- it is approved for the two years (2014-2015 and 2015-2016) the contract is to run.

Many thanks to those who gave input, worked on the negotiating team, came to the informational meetings and voted.

AFTMD Members Question Mayoral Candidates

The AFT-Maryland welcomed eight candidates (Elizabeth Embry, Calvin Young, Sheila Dixon, David Warnock, Cindy Walsh, Nick Mosby, Carl Stokes, and Catherine Pugh) for mayor of Baltimore to a standing room only members forum, where they had an opportunity to address members' concerns, including education spending, school board appointment, collective bargaining for city employees, and the sale of public utilities.
