A plan to reconfigure teacher preparation in Louisiana was unanimously approved by the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education following a close favorable vote by the board’s Teacher Effectiveness Committee.

Baltimore Blast!

The Baltimore Blast has just announced that their home opener on November 11 will be MD State Employee Appreciation Night!  Attached is the flyer with information about how to order tickets.  The tickets to see the championship team are deeply discounted for State employees.  The ticket cost is normally $22 and it will only be $10 for State employees.  Family and friends will receive a $3 discount.  Additionally, the Blast has arranged a pre-game meet and greet with the players.  Go Blast!

NTU Update - October 14, 2016

Dear Colleagues,

1)    Respect the Contract Update – Reports of RTC success keep coming in; sadly, so do reminders of why we fight. At an NPS discipline hearing last week, a teacher was disciplined for coming in 10 minutes late (five 2 minute occurrences) while the district neglected to take into consideration that he had spent the last five years staying a half hour late each day assisting disadvantaged students.

He will not stay late any more.

Walk-In for Community Schools Funding

The AFT-Maryland and the Baltimore Teachers Union joined with the Alliance to Reclaim Our Schools (AROS) and participated in a national day of action on October 6th. The Baltimore action was a walk-in for the schools and communities ALL our children deserve.
